Site Manager, Ben Payne, oversees commercial construction projects, working with tradespeople to meet deadlines in the safest most efficient manner, keeping strict governance on qualit control. BA Murphy prides itself on delivering the project on time and on budget; and Ben takes this commitment seriously. With a strong trade background himself, originally training as a carpenter, Ben understands the fundamentals of building from past hands-on experience; however, if he’s unsure of something, he’s not afraid to ask.
A great ‘people person’, he works well with a team able to lead and supervise, whilst still fostering a pleasant, friendly, respectful work environment that is enjoyable to be part of for everyone, regardless of their role. He also has excellent time management skills, which are critical in this role.
Highly qualified, Ben holds a national certificate in carpentry level 4 (NZ), and has had vast experience working in the residential sector in New Zealand, before working in London for five years where he was foreman/carpenter doing high end residential refurbishments and low-rise apartments. In Victoria Ben gained extensive experience working as a Site Foreman on projects ranging from $60 million and $120 million.
He has also had experience doing hospital and retail fit outs. Ben undergoes regular industry training and professional self-development, as do the entire team at BA Murphy. An outdoor lover, when not working Ben enjoys surfing, triathlons, and generally anything outdoors.
